About Me
As an Independent Funeral Celebrant, I am dedicated to honouring the unique lives of your loved ones through meaningful ceremonies. With a deep commitment to empathy and understanding, I strive to provide comfort and support to families during their time of loss. Allow me to introduce myself and share my journey in serving families with dignity and respect.
My Story
My name is David Young, and I am the Independent Funeral Celebrant for the Kingdom of Fife, based in Fife itself. I am married and have three adult children and seven grandchildren, all born in Fife.
Originally from Glasgow, I made an early decision to join the Armed Forces, serving for 23 years in a renowned Scottish Regiment. During my service, I had the privilege of deployments to various parts of the world, including the Far East, the Caribbean, Canada, Germany, Africa, and operational tours in Northern Ireland, now proudly retired as a Veteran.
Following my military career, I relocated to Fife and embarked on a civilian career in the logistics industry, spanning approximately 20 years. Subsequently, I chose to volunteer with the Citizens Advice Bureau and served as a Veterans Caseworker with SSAFA (the Armed Forces Charity). Over the years, I have often delivered eulogies at veterans' funerals, which sparked my interest in becoming a Civil Funeral Celebrant.
After undergoing professional training as a Celebrant, I am eager to offer guidance, support, and assistance to families. My aim is to assist the bereaved in Fife (and beyond) in creating a personalised and memorable celebration of life, ensuring their loved ones are bid farewell with dignity and respect.
